Ingrid Berger Myhre / Current

Current deals with the attempt of creating affect, first within the performers own body, therefore also in other bodies. Fundamentally lies the performers ideological dedication of wanting to offer to its public herself and the whole world too if necessary, doing so by searching and finding the reality of the theatre forum, rather than its illusion. Through ever complying to the conventions and traditions of the theatre, the belief that an uncensored honesty between the audience and performer can take place fuels precisely that encounter. The work propagates the change when audience and performer no longer look at each other, but look in the same direction. For simply by nostalgically looking in each other’s eyes, the fact that we are indeed segregated is amplified.

Bio

Ingrid Berger Myhre (Oslo, 1987) studied at the Trinity Laban Centre in London (2006-2007) and graduated from the Moderne Theater Dans department at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in 2010. Same year she made the video dance Gapwasteart, (since then shown in various contexts in Holland, Belgium, London, Norway) that springboarded her interest in expanding her artistic approach to also making choreography. Recent artistic encounters and influences has encouraged her investigation in finding an autonomous power of the performers body and voice, and resulted in her first independent works Nostalgia Isn’t What It Used To Be (2012) and Current (2013). Her work has been showed in Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, London and Slovenia and she has been performing additionally in Italy and Germany. Engaged in projects as performer and collaborator includes works by amongst others Gabriella Maiorino, Pablo Fontdevila, Francesco Scavetta, Kenzo Kusuda, Liat Waysbort, Jaakko Toivonen, Arthur Rosenfeld, Annika Pannitto, Vlado Repnik, Maja Delak and Mala Kline. The two previous years she has been awarded with a number of smaller Norwegian scholarships and she participated as DanceWebber in the ImpulsTanz International Dance Festival in Vienna the summer 2010.
